Butter Media Photoshoot Tips

At Butter Media, we want you to get the most out of your portrait session. Here are some photo session wardrobe tips:

1. Schedule the photography session when you're in your prime (some people are morning people, others aren't).
2. Solid colours are great. Try to stay away from anything too patterned, especially stripes. They can take a life of their own in a photo.
3. Ensure that your clothes are pressed or ironed. Wrinkles have a way of showing up on camera.
4. The star of the portrait photography session should bring at least one additional change of clothes (and shoes, if appropriate). Two or three are even better.
5. Double up on your make-up - especially your foundation. Often times the lighting will wash the face out a bit.
6. Think about the reason you are getting your picture taken. Your personality shold be expressed in the photo.
7. If you wear glases, be sure the photographer is especilaly careful of glare. Make sure you clean them before the shoot.
8. If taking a group portrait, everyone should wear complimentary colors. The outfits don't have to be duplicates to look good; however, you don't want everyone in light blue and one person in bright red.
9. Avoid short sleeves as the upper arm always tends to photograph wider than they are in real life
10. Your hands may be included in portraits. Having your nails done is important.
11. Have personal care items on premises, such as brush, comb, hairspray, chainsaw (for those really bad hair days), make-up, lipstick, mirror, hair clips, etc.
12. Keep a good posture with your back straight.
13. Smile with your eyes.
14. Remember to get a good nights sleep before the shoot for that fresh look.
15. Take deep breaths, relax and have fun!
